Hungry Root provides options that are suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, and all meals can be prepared within 10 minutes.

As a Splendid Spoon customer, you can mix and match different items from the three different plans after you have received your first order. Splendid Spoon has three different plans designed to assist with maintaining a regular breakfast and lunch routine. Following are their three plans

When it comes to meal variety, you will find a lot of differences between Splendid Spoon and Hungry Root.
We need to stress that Splendid Spoon caters more to breakfast and lunch options. However, we found that their grain and soup bowls were fulfilling and enjoyable and would be suitable for an evening meal. The team at Splendid Spoon is continually working on expanding their menu with new flavors and meal options. Currently, as a Splendid Spoon customer, you have a choice of 14 smoothies, 27 grain and soup bowls, five reset soups, and a wellness shot.
Hungry Root provides menu options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and snacks. Their menu options pair together to create simple meals that can be ready within 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it is quite challenging to ascertain the menu variety that is available as a Hungry Root’s customer. You are unable to access future menus or even find a full menu to review. We did find this a little frustrating as we feel that a prospective customer should be able to look at the present and future menus to try better to understand if the company would be suitable for their needs.
Splendid Spoon is passionate about providing only the best quality ingredients in its fully-prepared meals. Their whole company ethos is about making people feel great about themselves by providing incredibly healthy food that is good for the body and the soul. They only use ingredients that are plant-based, gluten-free, soy-free, and low in sugar and sodium. They aim to use only whole ingredients which means your meals are also free of preservatives.
Hungry Root states that their meals are rich in healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins. Their meals are free of preservatives and refined sugars. Their menu includes gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free options. We found that Hungry Root provided very little information about the source of their ingredients. So we are unsure of the priority they place on working with trusted suppliers or using ingredients that are organic or sustainably sourced. We did find this to be a little disconcerting, especially considering Hungry Root is a company that is delivering a 100% plant-based service.
Splendid Spoon vs Hungryroot – the delivery
Your Splendid Spoon delivery arrived in a fully recyclable and insulated box that contained enough ice to keep your fully-prepared meals at the correct temperature. All the meals come in a branded sleeve that includes the name of the meal, heating instructions and nutritional information. We thought that the Splendid Spoon delivery was beautifully organized with no sorting required. It took us only a few minutes to unpack, and the meals were stored directly in the refrigerator or freezer depending on when we wanted to use them.
Your HungryRoot delivery arrived in a fully recyclable and insulated box that contained a non-toxic gel pack to keep everything at the correct temperature. The separate ingredients were labeled but not organized according to meals. As a result, there was some sorting required during the unpacking process. As there were no recipe cards, we needed to check the individual recipes via our online account to know which ingredient went with each dish.
Hungryroot vs Splendid Spoon – managing your account
Splendid Spoon has a user-friendly website for managing your account. The whole subscription process is very straightforward. Once you have received your first delivery, it is easy to mix and match items from different plans, see future menus and orders, and update your details.
We found the Hungry Roots website and account process to be a little less straightforward. You can only access plan information once you have registered an account. After your registration, you can select your dietary preferences and then choose different menu items. Once you have received your first order, you can update your account, change your plan, and edit your menu options as often as required.
Splendid Spoon Vs. HungryRoot – the subscription
Both Splendid Spoon and HungryRoot are subscription-based services. However, you can skip weeks whenever necessary and cancel without penalty.

Both Splendid Spoon and Hungry Root offer a way of increasing your intake of plant-based whole ingredients. We found these companies to be quite different, and in this instance, our preferred company was Splendid Spoon.
We loved their range of smoothies, soup, and grain bowls and we enjoyed the flavors of all the meals we received. We also appreciated the ingredients that were used by Splendid Spoon and their dedication to providing only the best quality and clean ingredients for their customers. Moreover, the fact that all of their foods arrive already prepared means that you can maintain your healthy lifestyle while saving lots of time and energy!
Basically all you need to do is heat the foods and eat, or open up a bottle of smoothie and drink!
