This time we tasted another plant-based dish from the Purple Carrot vegan kitchen.
This Saigon style noodle dish was nice and included some delicate flavors from both the ginger sauce and the mint cucumber salad.
We thought that the combination of the cooked items (tofu and carrots) and the fresh cucumber salad gave the dish a nice mixture of contrasting textures.
Unfortunately, both the carrots and the cucumber that we received in our Purple Carrot box were of a very poor standard and had to be replaced with items that we bought at the local grocery store. Due to this, we had to lower the overall ranking of this dish, even though it did end up tasting quite good.
We need to note that generally, the quality of ingredients we received in the Purple Carrot box was a little inconsistent. We also found it odd that there is no mention on the Purple Carrot website as to where their ingredients are sourced from.
Are their ingredients sourced locally from trusted suppliers? Organic? Non-GMO? Free of preservatives? We would expect that more information would be available and that ingredients used would be of a better quality, especially considering they are a plant-based service.
